Fake Policemen Barge Into A Pleasant Hill Apartment, Rob And Hurt Unit Occupants
Pleasant Hill police investigators said that residents of a ground-floor apartment reported that two gun-toting men, with the word ‘POLICE’ printed on their vests, barged into their unit and robbed them.
The victims recalled that the suspects gained entry on their living room through a sliding glass door left ajar by one of the occupants.
As they were in the middle of a video game, the two men, lugging what looked like as pistols and a stun gun, burst inside the apartment and shouted on everyone to hit the floor.
One of the victims said that the suspects identified themselves as police officers while one of the gunmen started hitting his colleague with a gun, with two others absorbing some shocks from the stun gun carried by the other suspect.
Sgt Scott Vermillion said that some of the victims suffered some cuts and bruises from the attack but apart from that, no serious injuries were reported from the crime scene.
Police, who were on scene, said that the suspects ransacked the apartment, hauled away some electronic equipment and sped away with an SUV, driven by a third person, who investigators assumed also acted as the group’s lookout.
Witnesses interviewed by the police related that a brown-looking and later model Chevrolet SUV, bearing license plate numbers 4TEZ960 or 4TEZ690, was seen driving away from the apartment block and headed towards east.
Also, the victims described the two suspects as two young white men, possibly on their twenties, with the taller robber sporting a dark hair while the shorter one has a stocky built.
Sgt Vermillion said that their investigation has so far revealed that the gunmen may be a regular in the area and may have been known to one of the victims as he added that they are following on a drug lead as the probable reason for the break in.
He said that the suspects could be a search party for drugs they believed were contained in the apartment and resorted only to robbery when they failed on their original purpose, possibly to cover-up and to compensate.
