Bank of America Threatens Foreclosure for Delinquency of $0.00

A Northhampton, Massachusetts man recently averted disaster by paying his delinquent mortgage bill of zero dollars and zero cents[1]. That’s right: the guy didn’t owe his lender (Bank of America) a penny, but they hit his credit score and were ready to seize his home if he didn’t pay up! The notice, in fact, read that the homeowner owed “$0.00″ in back payments. As you may have suspected, the threatened seizure was the result of a mix-up in electronic filing, but the home was scheduled for foreclosure when the homeowner finally set things right with the lender. BofA righted the issue and also issued the homeowner $150 and a gift certificate for his trouble.

This is not the only bizarre foreclosure story that BofA has been involved with recently. In late May, the lender actually filed a foreclosure lawsuit against a building of which the main tenant is a BofA branch[2]. And a Florida couple recently sued BofA for foreclosing on a free-and-clear house and when the lender ignored the judicial decision, had the local branch of the bank padlocked by the sheriff until they were compensated for their legal fees[3].

Bank of America can’t seem to catch a break. Is this just a run of bad luck, or do you think “karma” is catching up to the beleaguered lender?

BofA is not the only one pulling these types of things! There is one lender that scams you from Day 1-PHH!Lies,tricks,and then they take your house back while pretending to be working to help you!And the poor average joe who might have had a loss of income can’t afford a lawyer to keep his house! There should be an uproar then see how fast things get changed!

As a Realtor never seen so dam much legalized criminal activity… Yep let the Karma begin and we will gladly start with B of A in the lead… No one should take a $150.00 gift certificate from these crooks, what the hay with that crap? (insult) push the issue go for the $$$$$$$$$$$$ after all they have thrown millions of familys on the street not even being the rightful holder in due course, whats wrong with these people accepting a gift card?

What’s wrong with the Feds???? Why are they not pursuing criminal action against B of A and ALL the other crooks who have blatantly screwed the american public right out their american dream.
Instead they give them bail out money!!
In a previous post right here on REI the banks and-trust me, very soon the gov-are now accusing investors of ripping them off by buying short sale and foreclosure property too far under value-bacause they cannot properly do their own due diligence. Boo Hoo.
When are we going to get a grip and close these SOB’s down and let the American entreprenurial spirit start new banks with CEO’s who have a conscience.
