Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Estate On The Market – With An Interesting Twist

Posted on January 26th 2011 No Comment

Thanks to staggering maintenance costs and skyrocketing medical bills, Zsa Zsa Gabor will be putting her 12,000 square-foot mansion on the market, her husband told reporters this week[1]. The asking price is $28 million, but the famous actress’ husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, does not want that hefty price tag to deceive potential buyers who think that he and his wife do not need the money. “This house goes,” he told the Beverly Hills Courier, “Maybe we are famous, but we are not rich.” Von Anhalt blames much of the couple’s financial troubles on the property’s upkeep, which is about $35,000 including the mortgage payment. Zsa Zsa’s medical care costs around $21,000 a month, which means “we are taking about $56,000 I have to raise every month…This house goes,” said the prince.

However, the estate comes with some very unique amenities: Zsa Zsa Gabor and her husband. According to the offer, Gabor, who is 93, and her husband will continue to live on the estate free of charge once the property is purchased. “The new owner has to pay for everything,” von Anhalt explained. While von Anhalt does not himself like being painted with “those three words, ‘rich and famous,” he is confident that someone else in his neighborhood, where “everybody is filthy rich around us,” will buy the house. “It is a must,” he explained.

Would you buy a house with built-in, elderly, famous tenants?
